Vladimír Dzuro was the first Czech investigator of the International Criminal Court for former Yugoslavia in The Hague. He collected evidence against war criminals and ethnic cleansers, and his biggest two cases were the Ovčara massacre and the arrest of the former mayor of Vukovar, Slavko Dokmanović, and ethnic cleansing in Northeast Bosnia by the orders of Željko Ražnatović Arkan. We accompany Dzuro on a tour of the locations of his investigations in former Yugoslavia and encounters with the surviving witnesses of ethnically motivated crimes. What do the Balkans where a war was raging thirty years ago look like today? What is it like for people still living in these places and what are their memories?

Viktor Portel is a documentary director and the manager of the Post Bellum o.p.s. documentation department, where he acts as a producer and audiovisual curator for the content under the title Memory of the People. In recent years, for example, the following events were made: the exhibition Memory of the People (2018) below Stalin’s former monument, the installation Trabi (Signal Festival 2019), and the screening Memory of the People: 1989 in Prague’s People’s Avenue, at the occasion of the 30th birthday of the Velvet Revolution. As an educator, he assists in launching documentary projects in places where the remembrance process is not so simple (Russia, Burma, Cuba…). He is the author and director of several episodes of the TV cycle 20th Century Stories (Příběhy 20. Století). For his film Havel Heart (Srdce Havel, 2013) he received the Czech Press Photo 1st prize in the online stories category. He graduated from the Department of Documentary Film at FAMU.
